A local move is usually defined as moving individual householder’s goods and relocating them to a new home or apartment within a specific radius of the city (usually 25 miles.)

Costs are normally calculated on an hourly basis for the type of equipment and the number of movers required to complete the move. Travelling time, to the customer’s residence and to return to the office, is generally included in the total number of hours.

Local moving also involves the transport of heavy items for which additional charges may prevail. For example, pianos, organs, business machines, photocopiers, safes, computers, printing presses and refrigeration units.
