Storage

Storage can be an important part of the moving process. If you are not taking all of your possessions with you or your future home is not ready for your immediate occupancy on your arrival, we can offer clean palletized storage in government approved and fully insured warehouses at each of our locations.

We will keep your belongings clean, safe and secure as long or as short as your need.

The charges for storage are based on the actual weight of the household furniture and personal effects to be stored. There are four factors involved: pick up, delivery, warehouse handling (stowing and wrapping) and storage.

Specially built storage pallets provide individualized storage accommodation, with all goods being padded and wrapped first. Larger items such as carpets or sofas are carefully wrapped in protective plastic and stored on racks specially constructed to accommodate them.

Our standard liability coverage is with a Canadian insurance company. Additional coverage is available.

Storage Options

Short-term storage or storage-in-transit is usually for a period of less than 60 days. Your moving contract remains in effect for this period and no additional transit protection coverage is required.

Long-term storage is for a period of more than 60 days. Depending on the period required, lower rates are often available. Extra storage insurance coverage is available at a reasonable cost.

For both short-term and long-term storage your household goods are carefully placed on clean, wooden storage pallets in government approved, pest controlled, sprinklered and climatically controlled warehouse.

Container Service

Some of our customers prefer to have their belongings sealed into a large containers which are then transported on a special air ride container trailer. We can offer you a domestic container service to transport your belongings.

All containers are fibreglass, reinforced with steel to provide a clean, safe weatherproof environment. Each container is equipped with furniture pads and straps to cover and secure your possessions in transit. If you prefer Jay's will arrange for you to padlock and seal your own containers to be opened by you at destination.

With three container sizes from which you can choose, we can meet your specific needs. Should you require short-term storage until your new residence is available, your house-hold possessions can remain in the security of your container while stored at our facility.

Our van line's computerized communications network monitors the movement of your container from origin to destination. Should your delivery schedule change, the shipment can be further expedited, delayed or re-routed to suit your needs.

If you choose domestic container service you can be sure your possessions will be handled by a special team trained in this mode of transportation.
