Telemiracle Golf Classic

Next Year’s Event – 18th Annual Jay’s Classic June 12th, 2009

Jay's 17th Annual Golf Classic
Friday, June 13, 2008
Harbor Golf Club & Resort
Elbow, Saskatchewan

Golfers from near and far enjoyed a perfect summer day at the picturesque Harbor Golf Club in Elbow to help Jay’s raise funds for Telemiracle 33. Most travelled in from across Saskatchewan; some came by car; many came in buses and passenger vans from Saskatoon and Regina. A couple of Dennis Doehl’s special guests — friends and long-time business associates — made the long trek here just to take part in this annual event: Doug Auld, newly retired from his position as President of Atlas Van Lines Canada travelled in from Ontario; Doug Kellough of Salmon’s Transport came in from British Columbia; and, Mike Shaffer, retired from Atlas World Van Lines, came all the way from Indiana, USA.

Every year, this tournament just gets bigger and better. This year was no exception—we re-wrote the record book again by raising an amazing $70,292.77 for the Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation; this brings our 17 year grand total raised to $489,227.49. This would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors and enthusiastic golfers. This year, we had 67 major sponsors, 163 hole sponsors, and the golf registrations were sold out by March 26th!

We are extremely grateful to all of our partners and golfers for recognizing the importance of this fundraiser. We know that this donation will make a profound difference in the lives of many people and their families. It will be an honour to present these funds at Telemiracle 33 next year on behalf of everyone who contributed and participated.

After an enjoyable day out on the links, everyone enjoyed a steak supper and silent auction, followed by the award presentation and numerous prize draws. Golf scores were extremely close this year with the winning team coming at 10 under par and 3 teams tied at 8 under; retrogression was used to determine the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams. Trophies, donated by JDR Marketing Group, were awarded to the winners, along with a variety of prizes. We would like to thank Sharp Auto Trim for signage that allowed us to recognize our major and hole sponsors.
